Sunday Racing Tips - Timaru 06/09/26

The Timaru card this Sunday is headlined by several competitive handicap races.

Ahead of this and the first race we have run our eye through the card and picked out some of our best horse racing tips.

BEST BET – Never Too Much

We try to avoid short priced favorites wherever we can but it’s hard to look past the chances of Never Too Much in race 4. Despite being off the track for five months, his form is on a completely different level to all of these and it should be case of how far he wins by. He should be far too good for these and he is hard to ignore.

THE DANGER – Citala

There could be some newcomers to keep a market watch on, but often experience can pay and it could be worth siding with Citala. She has been thereabouts in her two starts to date with two fourth placed efforts. She is used to this grade and should be in the mix for the minor placings.

VALUE BET – Tricory

Tricory is of real interest and represents the value play. She was able to finish third on debut and she takes the step down from non metro racing here. There could be more to come with her debut now behind her and she could be the one to challenge Never Too Much.

Brutal Riff – 3.90

Bakhita – 7.50

BEST BET – Cool In Command

Race 7 sees Cool In Command take to the track and connections will hope he can back up his win from two weeks ago. This is a non metro race and he is the one who should dictate the fractions. There is plenty to like.

THE DANGER – Brutal Riff

Brutal Riff could be the danger. After winning on debut, he then backed that up with a near miss at Riccarton Park. Upped in grade, he was a bit of a no show on his last start and has since had 19 weeks off the track. He returns to a reasonable level and should be right in the mix here.

VALUE BET – Bakhita

There are plenty of value horses in the field but Bakhita could be the headline. A veteran of 20 starts, she has two wins and seven placed efforts. She is down in weight and drops down to a non metro class. She will have to dust off the cobwebs having not raced for 27 weeks. If she is fit enough she could be an interesting contender.

BEST BET – Dream Of The Moon

In the sixth race of the day Dream Of The Moon is likely to be popular in the betting. Resuming after a five month break, she takes a drop down in distance and class today. Her best form would see her winning this, whether she is ready for today remains the question.

THE DANGER – Luna Capella

Luna Capella could be the danger here. Having just made five starts, she has two wins and two places and has proven to be consistent. She is another resuming from a break but her form is hard to ignore.

VALUE BET – Moon Money

Our long shot of the day is Moon Money. She has made 36 starts with five wins and eight further places. She has been off the track for just four weeks and in comparison to most here, she has a fitness edge. A winner four starts ago, she should go close here if producing something similar.
