This looks like a race where the top two in the market will take each other on, but if you fancy opposing either horse at the top of the betting, it could be worth making a small play on the Perfect One. A fourth place effort on debut isn’t to be sniffed at and with improvement to come, this could be a race he can win.

THE DANGER – Pokuru Gold
Craig Grylls is one of New Zealand’s top jockeys and whoever he rides is always worth a second look and that’s certainly the case with Pokuru Gold. A winner of her first three races, she has a fourth and third place finish in each of her last two races and will be hoping to rediscover the winning thread here.

VALUE BET – Kakadu
Kakadu prepared for this race with a victory at Taupo three weeks ago, but struggled with the heavier conditions on his last start. With conditions set to be much more suitable he should give a good account of himself in this contest.
