Sticking with the narrow favourite, Empress Of The Sun, for Race 4 at Sandown Lakeside, and she still presents a little bit of value at around the $3.30 mark. She got the job done here at this track and trip last time out, and I reckon she can go two from two. That win came on a Heavy-rated track, which is what we get today, and she gets a 3kg weight relief, thanks to apprentice jockey Jabez Johnstone.

Quick Analysis:

Switching over to Murray Bridge now, and I think United Legend looks ripe for this one. He was scratched from a race last Sunday with this one in mind. While the wide draw doesn’t help on paper, it may actually be the place to be on a Soft or Heavy-rated track. He also has a good record here at Murray Bridge, with two wins and a placing from three starts.

Quick Analysis:

My final best bet of the day comes at Randwick Kensington with John Dory. The gelding hasn’t exactly lit the world on fire so far this prep, but he is still good enough to beat this field. The 3YO draws well for this one, and gets a 2kg weight relief thanks to apprentice jockey Siena Grima. I can’t see any other runner beating the Chris Waller-trained runner today.

  • New Target was narrowly beaten first-up and boasts an excellent record at Belmont. She looks primed to go one better in Race 5 at Belmont.
  • Esta Mirando drops into a suitable assignment after competing well in stronger company at Belmont. She looks ready to stamp her authority on Race 7 at Belmont.
  • The Big Blue returns with the winkers back on after a solid metro placing and looks well-suited in this grade. He can run a big race at each-way odds in Race 8 at Eagle Farm.
