Quick Analysis:

Kicking the day off in Ballarat early. I like the look of Mrs Iglesia in Race 2. The filly failed to fire last time out at Caulfield Heath as the favourite, finishing in seventh, but just 0.62L off the leader. She comes from an excellent stable, and I think it’s unlikely she’ll miss out twice in a row as the favourite, especially considering she draws better for this one.

Quick Analysis:

Heading to Canberra now, and the favourite, Angel City, looks very difficult to beat. With just 55.5kg on her back and drawing barrier one, it’s easy to see why she is the favourite. After two seconds and two thirds, the filly finally managed to break her maiden last time out. I think she’ll use that form to continue winning here.

Quick Analysis:

For my final best bet of the day, I’m back in Ballarat, and I think Mr Blunt can get the job done. It’s a small field, and the gelding tackles this one second up. He’ll be fitter for that run under his belt, and he is already a winner second-up previously. It’s a fairly small field for this one, and John Allen, who has had success with Mr Blunt previously, steps into the saddle.

Stats and Insights

  • Miss Valmalenco has a win at Belmont and has been consistent with placings at metro level this prep. She looks a leading chance here in Race 3 at Ascot.
  • Beneficiary is chasing five straight wins after another solid performance at Hobart last start. He clearly looks the one to beat again in Race 4 at Launceston.
  • Zavaboom is a proven track specialist with multiple wins at Mount Isa and drops back to non-metro grade. He looks the standout selection in Race 5 at Mt Isa.
