Quick Analysis:

I have to stick with the favourite here, Infusion. Despite being the favourite, I reckon that the $3.70 price we’re currently getting for the mare is still decent enough value. She is one of those runners that doesn’t really look that good on paper, but is still a classy runner. She finished second last time out at Kensington, and draws a lot better here.

Quick Analysis:

Somewhere is another that I think presents decent value. The 4YO has a current career record of 11:2-1-3, and does have a recent placing here at this track. Last time out he was so close yet so far at Caulfield for a BM78, finishing just 0.06L off the pace in second. He drops back to a BM74 for this one, and gets a 3kg weight claim thanks to Holly Durnan. There’s a lot of ticks here to make up for the wide draw.

Quick Analysis:

There are plenty of live chances in this field, but it’s hard for me to go past Reciprocal, who holds the gun draw. The gelding is a recent winner at Balaklava two runs back, and last time out, he finished third by 1.67L. He drops back slightly in class, so this one should be a bit easier. Harry Grace retains the ride, and I’ll be taking the $3.90 while it’s still on offer.

Stats and Insights

  • Winchman has been remarkably consistent this preparation and went close again with a narrow second at the Gold Coast. He looks capable of breaking through at big odds in Race 4 at Doomben.
  • Global Trip has drawn perfectly to control the race from the front and looks ideally placed over this trip. He shapes as the runner to beat in Race 5 at Pinjarra Scarpside.
  • Miss Chastain resumed with an impressive victory and now gains the blinkers for the first time. She looks the runner to beat in Race 8 at Doomben.
