Quick Analysis:

Coastal Strike is good enough to strike here at Hobart in what looks like a pretty open field. The gelding finished second here at this track last time out in late June by just 0.35L. That’s when he was going around with odds of $10. We won’t get anywhere near that price, but the $4.80 on offer is still pretty good value. The barrier draw is a slight issue, but he is a speedy little thing.

Quick Analysis:

Switching over to Grafton now, and it’s hard for me to see anyone upsetting the favourite, Spenzalot, in Race 5. The 4YO is looking for back-to-back wins in this race after scoring at Tamworth last time out. He’ll have just 55kg on his back, which really tips him over the edge in my eyes. Mikayla Weir, who has been on board every run so far this prep, lines up once again.

Bendigo - Race 9, 6:20 PM

Top Pick:

2. Ollandia Beach

Quick Analysis:

Finishing the day in the final race at Bendigo, and I think Ollandia Beach presents decent enough value at the time of writing. The gelding’s runs have been well spaced out so far this prep, and last time out he finished second at Wangaratta, which was on a Heavy10 track. He gets a 3kg weight relief thanks to apprentice jockey Caitlin Hollowood, and should make an impact from barrier two.

Stats and Insights

  • The Big Freeze brings winning form into this after back-to-back victories and has the advantage of the inside draw. He looks capable of completing the hat-trick in Race 4 at Alice Springs.
  • Scottish Laird was narrowly denied as a well-backed favourite last start and draws perfectly from barrier one. He looks well placed to bounce back in Race 6 at Kalgoorlie.
  • Kureder is expected to improve sharply second-up after competing in stronger metro company last preparation. He looks the runner to beat in Race 7 at Townsville.
