Quick Analysis:

Kicking the day off in Kembla Grange, and it’s hard for me to look past the narrow favourite, Aethelwulf. The gelding comes into this one third-up after winning at Newcastle to kick off this prep. Didn’t produce much last time out, but that was a Heavy track, and I think he’ll appreciate the Soft track a little better this time out. With Zac Lloyd on board, he can pick up his second win of the prep today.

Switching over to Cranbourne now, and I think I’ve found a little bit of value with Miss Cotoletta, in what looks to be a pretty open field. The mare didn’t fire first up on a Heavy track, but should be fitter for that run under her belt and can go close here. She gets a reasonable barrier draw as well, and 3kg off her back thanks to apprentice jockey Chelsea Thompson.

I’m back in Kembla Grange for my final best bet of the day, and Vingt Neuf Noir is another that presents some decent value, going around at each-way odds at the time of writing. The filly comes into this one in some serious form, with two wins and a second in her four most recent runs. She drops back to a BM64 for this one, and Chad Schofield, who was on board for one of those wins, saddles up again.

  • Meldubious went down narrowly when resuming at the Gold Coast and is expected to strip fitter for that performance. He looks the runner to beat in Race 4 at Ipswich.
  • La Profecia broke through for an impressive maiden victory at Ipswich and looks capable of taking the next step. He shapes as the runner to beat in Race 7 at Ipswich.
  • King Pedro drops back in grade after competing in stronger company and looks ideally placed in this feature staying contest. He shapes as the horse to beat in Race 7 at Grafton.
