Quick Analysis:

Starting the day in Ipswich, where I think Heroic Rebel can get the win. The gelding comes in as the narrow favourite, but at still around the $3.00 mark, there’s a smidge of value about him. His prep has been spaced out nicely, and his last two runs have resulted in back-to-back placings. This one is a step down to non-metro grade, so I’m expecting big things here.

Quick Analysis:

Heading over to Albury now, and I think Taytay Bay can upset the favourite, Dunna Runna. The gelding finished strongly last time out in Canberra, ending up just 0.69L off the leader in second place. He already has a second placing here at Albury this prep, and I think he’s good enough to go one better. He also gets a 2kg weight relief thanks to apprentice jockey Dale Cole.

Quick Analysis:

For my final best bet of the day, I’m heading to Newcastle, and I’ve found a little bit of value with Southern Prince. He could be an each-way play, but I’m confident, so I’ll be taking him for the win. He hasn’t raced since October, but has a decent first-up record (albeit a small sample size) of 3:1-0-1, and his trials have been solid. Another that gets weight relief thanks to an apprentice jockey (Deon Le Roux).

Stats and Insights

  • Ardashir broke through impressively last start and has already proven himself at the track. He looks the clear horse to beat in Race 4 at Pakenham.
  • Dramaticus comes off a last-start win and should make further improvement. He looks the one to beat in Race 7 at Pakenham.
  • Tesoro Mio was impressive winning first-up and has since trialled well. She looks the one to beat again in Race 7 at Albury.
