I think Ocean Tsunami can build on her last run, where she finished second at this track and trip. That was also at a BM58, which she lines up for again here. Izzy Neale steps into the saddle, bringing a 1.5kg weight relief with her. Ocean Tsunami gets the winkers on for the first time, and I think that can help her overcome the wide draw.

From the gun draw, I think Bronte Beach has this one in the bag. The mare has back-to-back third placings at Pakenham and Pakenham Synthetic. I don’t think the step up to 1,600m should be an issue, especially because she draws to do no work from barrier one. Beau Mertens retains the ride as well. She’s the clear favourite.

For my last best bet of the day, I think Brial Rose can snag a win in a somewhat open field. She’s looking for back-to-back wins after a victory here at Albury. That win came on a Heavy-rated track, and with all the rain around NSW at the moment, it’s going to be another Heavy track for sure. Gets another crack at a BM58, and she should topple this field.

Stats and Insights

  • Too Many Kisses comes off a strong Mackay victory and represents a stable that continues to produce winners. She looks the one to run down in Race 4 at Emerald.
  • Cryptology has been racing consistently this preparation and wasn't far away despite defeat as favourite last start. He gets another excellent opportunity in Race 7 at Emerald.
  • Copperline is chasing a hat-trick after back-to-back wins and has an outstanding record at this track. He can topple the favourite in Race 7 at Scone.
