It’s a big field, but I’m sticking with the favourite here. We haven’t seen the mare since May, but she has had a couple of impressive trials here at the Sunshine Coast. Draw barrier one, so won’t have to do any work. I think she’ll deliver a great result first up with Ben Thompson on board.

Flying South couldn’t get the job done as the favourite here at Albany across the same distance last time out, but I think he’s ready to redeem himself. The $5.00 that’s currently on offer is more than I expected, so get while the going is good. He knows the Albany track well and should be able to get the job done this time out.

Quick Analysis:

Sticking in Albany for my final best bet of the day with True Player. He has finished in the top three all four runs so far this prep, including two first places at Pinjarra and Bunbury. Jockey Lucy Fiore has been on board for the last two runs and sticks with the 5YO here. Drawing barrier three should also be a little bit of a help.

Stats and Insights

  • The Magnet comes from a strong stable and drops back to non-metro company. She looks well placed to break through in Race 3 at Mudgee.
  • Stern Reminder has been close this prep and drops back to non-metro grade after a narrow defeat as favourite. He looks well placed to break through in Race 4 at Nowra.
  • West Head resumes after a lengthy spell and should improve off the first-up run at Narromine. He looks a leading contender in this field in Race 7 at Mudgee.
