This is a small field with a few decent chances, but it’s hard to go past Rob The Bank. The gelding is on a quick seven-day back-up after finishing third last time out at Strathalbyn. We haven’t seen him grace the winner’s stall in a while, but he has every chance here. Draws a better barrier than last race, so I reckon he’ll settle closer to the front this time out.

Another race with some decent depth, especially for a maiden, but with just 57kg on her back (the lightest in this race), I’m going with Upstage. She tackles this one second up after finishing second in Kyneton last time out. Daniel Stackhouse was on board for that run and the trial run before. He lines up once again. She can break her maiden in this relatively small field.

For my last best bet of the day, I’m heading to Warwick Farm, where Call Me Gorgeous looks good enough to overcome the favourite. After running in Sha Tin, the gelding was quickly back to winning ways in Australia, getting the job done last time out in Newcastle. That win was quite impressive, with about 3L back to second. Similar tactics will help him go two-for-two.

Stats and Insights

  • Flagship resumes after a 19-week break and just missed as a heavily backed favourite last start at York. He looks ready to make a strong return at decent odds in Race 4 at Ascot.
  • Scrumptious has a win earlier this prep at Canterbury and wasn’t far away last start at Warwick Farm on a heavy track. She looks the runner to beat in Race 6 at Doomben.
  • Simply Outrageous won first-up this prep and then placed as favourite last start at Pakenham. She looks well placed to bounce back and topple the favourite in Race 7 at Geelong.
