Quick Analysis:

Olympian looks like a great bet early in the day at Scone. This will be only the gelding’s third career run, and he broke his maiden last time out, after finishing second to kick off his career. Will end up carrying the top weight, but draws well in barrier three, and seems to have the form/ class to overcome his rivals in this one. Keen to start the day off on a winning note.

Quick Analysis:

Heading over to Ipswich now, and I have to side with Slippin' Jimmy, despite his poor showing last time out. He drops down to a non-metro today, and he does have form at BM85 level, so that should really stack up here. Small field, light-ish weight, and Ben Thompson on board, there are a lot of things working in Slippin' Jimmy’s favour.

Quick Analysis:

For my final best bet of the day, I’m heading to Albury for the Listed Albury Gold Cup. A field of 15 runners, and there are a few decent chances, but my money will be on Plymouth. We last saw Plymouth in the Group 2 Blamey Stakes, where he finished fourth. He was finishing strongly and should enjoy the step up to 2,000m here. Draws well, and Luke Currie sticks.

Stats and Insights

  • Super Mirage was a beaten favourite last start at Wangaratta and now gets the blinkers off. He can redeem himself here in Race 2 at Albury.
  • Bayside has been competitive at metro level this prep and looks suited stepping up to this trip. He is good enough to beat the favourite in Race 6 at Launceston.
  • Theology resumes from a nine-week break and has trialled well since last racing. He has solid claims in Race 7 at Cranbourne.
