Quick Analysis:

I think Backhander presents some good value at Muswellbrook today, and she looks good enough to give the favourite, Gemtiki, a run for her money. The 4YO picked up her second career win two runs back in a BM58 at Gunnedah. She followed that run up with a fourth placing at Mudgee last time out. Heavelon Van Der Hoven, who was on board for the Gunnedah win, steps back into the saddle, and the pair jump from barrier two.

Quick Analysis:

Heading to Townsville now, and it’s difficult for me to go past Tambo’s Sister. The filly is currently the favourite and was desperately unlucky last time out at this track/ trip, but still managed to sprint home to finish third, just 0.26L. This looks like a very similar race, and she draws wide again, so as long as she has a smidge of luck on her side, she should be winning this.

Quick Analysis:

In the last race in Moe today, I think I Said So can get the chocolates. The gelding comes into this one third-up after a second-place finish to kick off his campaign. He didn’t do too much last time out, but I expect he’ll bounce back for this one. Jason Maskiell, who has been in the saddle for both runs so far this campaign, retains the ride. Hasn’t run in Heavy-rated conditions yet, but does have a Soft record of 4:1-2-0.

Stats and Insights

  • Xceptional Spirit was impressive winning first-up at Canberra Acton and comes from a good stable. She can build on that winning return in Race 4 at Queanbeyan.
  • The Adige resumes after breaking through for a maiden win at Queanbeyan first-up last campaign. He can pop up there at big odds in Race 7 at Queanbeyan.
  • Rock The Sunrise narrowly missed at Townsville last start and has placed four times this preparation. He can turn that consistent form into a win in Race 8 at Townsville.
