Global Eclipse is the top-rated runner in this one, and the narrow favourite, but still has a smidge of value around him at the $3.20 mark. He comes into this one second-up after finishing second at Ipswich last time out. With more fitness under his belt, he should show natural improvement, and can still get the job done from the widest barrier of them all. He has placed in both his second-up career runs so far.

Heading to Canterbury now, and it’s hard for me to go past the favourite, even though she is a little bit skinny at around the $1.85 mark. She kicked off her prep last time out with a second placing at this track/ trip. She draws a lot better in this one, and James McDonald sticks. She is also already a winner when second-up (career record of 1:1-0-0).

Quick Analysis:

Wrapping today’s action up at Caulfield Heath, and I think I’ve found a good each-way play with Electric Elvis. I’m hoping the 5YO can redeem himself after going down as the heavy favourite last time out at Bendigo. He started slowly in that one, and left his run too late. Damian Lane, who has been on board for the two runs, sticks, and they’ll need a little bit of luck from the widest barrier of them all.

Stats and Insights

  • Joyoh finished just a nose behind the leader at Belmont when resuming and commands respect. She is good enough to give the favourite a run for their money in Race 3 at Belmont.
  • Eclair Vitality kept chasing to just miss at Mildura first-up on a Soft track and looks a key chance. He can go one better in Race 5 at Balaklava.
  • Cosmic Gem won at Belmont two starts back this prep and should appreciate the drop in distance. He looks to be a key chance in Race 6 at Belmont.
