Kicking the day off in the Group 3 Hawkesbury Guineas with Skyhook. The colt comes into this one third up, with some decent runs under his belt, but not exactly a lot to show for it. He’ll be at peak fitness, so the additional 200m shouldn’t be of any concern. He was just 3L off the pace last time out in a Group 2, and the set weights conditions work in his favour for this one.

It’s hard for me to go past Icarian Dream in Eagle Farm today. I reckon the filly has the class to overcome the current favourite, Kohler Kid. While she gets absolutely no favours with the barrier draw, she has a great track record at Eagle Farm. Last time out, she finished second at Doomben. I expect she’ll be gracing the winner’s stall after this race.

In the last of the day at Bendigo, I have my eye on the favourite, You’re Two Vain. He kicked off his campaign last time out with a third placing at Sandown Lakeside, just 0.37L off the leader. The jump from a BM74 to a BM84 doesn’t look out of reach. He draws well and only has to lug around 55.5kg on his back; a lot of things are working in his favour.
