Quick Analysis:

Starting today at Ipswich, and all eyes are on the favourite, Old Faithful. The gelding broke his maiden two runs ago at the Sunshine Coast, and backed that up last time out with a top-three finish. He’ll have to lug around the top weight, but does get some favours with the barrier draw. This race doesn’t seem materially harder than what he competed in last time out, and if he settles well, he’ll have every chance.

Quick Analysis:

I reckon Hollywood Hero can score for the Bjorn Baker barn here. The gelding kicked off this prep with back-to-back placings at Randwick and Rosehill. He didn’t really deliver last time out, but being back on a Soft-rated track will really help his efforts. The barrier draw isn’t exactly the best, but I think Hollywood Hero will probably settle back and wait for this chance to strike in the closing stages.

Quick Analysis:

I had originally tipped Alien Angel a couple of days ago at Cranbourne. She was the favourite in that one, but the card ended up being abandoned, so she’s popped up here at Seymour, where we’re getting better odds. It’s a bigger field this time out, but Jye McNeil sticks after the pair broke her maiden last time out. This looks like a race she can win, especially from barrier three.

Stats and Insights

  • Texan Star has been building towards a win with a recent placing at Sapphire Coast and comes from a strong stable. He can go one better in Race 3 at Canberra.
  • Eeny Meeny has shown plenty of ability early in his career and drops back to non-metro company here. He can return to the winner’s list in Race 4 at Seymour.
  • Action King returned with a strong finishing effort at Eagle Farm and drops back to non-metro company. He can prove too strong in Race 6 at Canberra.
