Quick Analysis:

It’s a tale of always the bridesmaid and never the bride for Thinkyahot, who currently holds a record of 4:0-3-0, but I think today is the day he can turn it all around. He finished second last time out at Echuca after being held up at a critical stage. He also just seems to find tough maidens as well, but looking at this field, he has his best chance to break his duck.

Quick Analysis:

I think there’s still a smidge of value around Hinzel, who is currently one from one in his short career. He was impressive in his only run at Kembla Grange, winning by 2L, but we haven’t seen the colt since then (November). He has been at the trials recently to get his feet wet and should be ready to go for this one. Draws wide, but I reckon he is good enough to overcome that.

Quick Analysis:

Wrapping up my best bets in Belmont, and it’s hard for me to go past the favourite, Prince Of Dala. It’s still a slightly open field, so the $2.60 we’re getting for the gelding isn’t too bad. The 3YO kicked off this prep with back-to-back wins at Pinjarra. Last time out, he finished fourth at this track and trip. He’ll be fitter for that run under his belt and is good enough to get the win this time.

Stats and Insights

  • Moshulu Spirit was impressive breaking his maiden first-up at the Sunshine Coast and looks well placed to go on with it. He is the favourite for a reason in Race 4 at Doomben.
  • North Pole returns from a spell chasing a hat-trick after consecutive Eagle Farm victories. If he resumes in the same form, he looks the one to beat in Race 8 at Doomben.
  • Robert The Puss has been competitive throughout the preparation and can improve on his latest midfield finish. He shapes as a genuine danger in Race 8 at Mount Gambier.
