There are a few live chances in this one, but I think Common Goal represents decent enough value and has the track experience to get the win. The gelding is a last-start winner here at Canberra, over the same trip as well. He comes into this race in decent form and has a good enough Soft-rated track record, 4:1-1-0.

Switching over to Orange now, and I like the look of Crown Legend in Race 6. The gelding draws barrier one and drops to a BM58, so I reckon he should be quite competitive. With apprentice jockey Jacob Stiff on board, Crown Legend also gets a 2kg weight relief. Crown Legend’s last go at a BM58 ended in an easy win, so more of the same here please!

It’s the Orange Gold Cup, and I’m sticking with the favourite in Sarrismo. Sarrismo draws barrier one, which will be a great help, and he comes into this race in some serious form. He is looking for the hat-trick of wins today, after claiming victory at Warwick Farm and then Doomben last time out. His class should be enough to get him over the line.

Stats and Insights

  • Firerated resumes after a break and has trialled well since being gelded. He looks primed to run a big race fresh in Race 5 at Cranbourne.
  • Obligated has been in strong form this campaign and boasts an excellent record at Mackay. He looks a key contender again in Race 5 at Mackay.
  • Rippington won first-up at metro level and followed it with a solid placing at Launceston. He looks a strong chance to go close again in Race 6 at Launceston.
