The gelding doesn’t have the best of records, looking at his overall career, but he was there or thereabouts last prep. This includes two fourth placings and two second placings. Russian Front has also finished second here at this track. He comes into this one fresh, and while the money has come in for the 6YO, there’s still a bit of value around the $4.80 mark.

Quick Analysis:

Heading to Gosford now, and I have to stick with the favourite, Lipstick. The Chris Waller-trained filly ran on well for a second placing last time out at Canterbury, by just 0.61L. She doesn’t have a lot of experience on a Heavy-rated track, with one second from one attempt, but she’ll get every chance from barrier three, especially with Tommy Berry on board as well.

Wrapping up my best bets in Northam, and Articole looks the one to be on. It’s a big field, and the gelding does draw wide, but I think that very well may be the place to be, so he can stay out of traffic. He has been close so far in his short career, with a current record of 2:0-1-1, and the two recent trials seem to have him tuned up properly to hit the ground running in this one.

  • Game Plan resumes after winning first-up last preparation and looks well-suited returning to heavy ground conditions. She can make a winning return in Race 5 at Moe.
  • Storm Away drops back in grade and has rarely let supporters down when well fancied in the market. He looks well placed to strike in Race 6 at Northam.
