Quick Analysis:

Hoping to bag one early in the day at Flemington with Changing Colours. The mare tackles this one second up after shaking out the cobwebs last time out at this track. She finished fourth in that one, and Luke Cartwright sticks once again. I think she’ll be fitter for that run under her belt, and she currently holds a second-up record of 3:0-2-0. She can notch up a win here from barrier three.

Quick Analysis:

It’s not the biggest of fields, and we’ve already seen a couple of scratchings for this one. I like the look of Roselyn’s Star, who was fairly consistent in her last prep. We haven’t seen her since March, but she’s looking for back-to-back wins after taking out the Group 3 Star Kingdom Stakes at Rosehill last time out. She’s had to recent trials in preparation for this one, and looks good to kick things off with a bang.

My last best bet of the day comes at Doomben with John Rambo. With a whole bunch of scratchings, there are just eight runners left in this one (at the time of writing). There’s been a lot of movement in the market for the gelding, and he comes into this one third-up. He hasn’t finished in the top three yet this prep, but this one looks like a much easier assignment compared to the others.

Stats and Insights

  • Close Talker has already won this preparation and looks well placed despite her latest midfield finish. She shapes as the runner to beat in Race 5 at Derby.
  • Expensive Taste has been ultra-consistent throughout her career and returns to metropolitan company after another strong placing. She looks well placed at each-way odds in Race 6 at Morphettville Parks.
  • Want A Winner returns from a spell after going close as a favourite at his previous first-up run and looks ideally drawn. He shapes as the runner to beat in Race 7 at Belmont.
