It’s hard for me to go past Hello Captain today in Race 3 at Warwick Farm. The gelding has had a fairly successful short career so far, including a maiden win last time out at the Sunshine Coast. We haven’t seen him since that December run, but he has had two recent trials, with the last one having JMac on board, who’ll saddle up today.

Heading to Caulfield Heath now, Pula comes into this one in some good form with back-to-back wins. This includes last time out, where the mare narrowly won at this track and trip. Craig Williams, who has ridden Pula previously, takes over for Jordan Childs, and the pair will need a smidge of luck from the wide draw, but they are good enough to win this.

Switching back to Warwick Farm for my last best bet of the day. Confidentiality looks good enough to topple the favourite and presents some decent enough value, currently around the $3.40 mark. The filly has been racing fairly well so far this prep, with a win and a second placing. She has had a recent trial, and I think she’ll return to the winner’s stall today.

Stats and Insights

  • A Summer Fling resumes from a spell after an impressive start to her career. She has solid claims in Race 5 at Belmont.
  • Harsh was narrowly beaten as the favourite last start and has been competitive throughout the prep. She looks the testing material in Race 6 at Balaklava.
  • Grandad’s Adiction backs up quickly after a narrow defeat as the favourite at York. He looks a decent chance at big odds in Race 7 at Belmont.
