Quick Analysis:

Kicking the day off with the ever-profitable combo of JMac and Chris Waller. The dynamic duo are back at it again with Blitzgal in the last today at Canterbury. The current favourite is one from one in her career, and while this does look more difficult than her first career run, the way she broke her maiden just oozes confidence and class.

It’s a big field for this one, but I think Mrs Iglesia is clearly the one to be on. She has been there or thereabouts so far this prep, including two second placings, both by under 0.5L. The 3YO gets another crack at a BM70, and I think she can redeem herself. Daniel Stackhouse takes over in the saddle, and barrier three is a good place to be.

For my final best bet of the day, we are going to Ascot, and I’ll be on Royal Trooper. The gelding comes into this one in great form after a completely dominant win last time out in Pinjarra. Now, that wasn’t a particularly strong field, but he still did what was required and put them all away. He shouldn’t have any difficulty with the extra 200m (he has also already won at 2,220m).

Stats and Insights

  • Let’s Do It Again went around as the favourite last start and ran well in defeat. He should be right in the mix again at very good odds in Race 5 at Doomben.
  • Saint Aldwyn is chasing a hat-trick after consecutive wins at Eagle Farm and Doomben. He looks the clear horse to beat in Race 8 at Doomben.
  • Blue Isles has been consistent and should be able to offset the wide draw with early speed. She looks a leading chance in Race 9 at Murray Bridge.
