I think that Arapwa can topple the favourite in this one. The gelding has done a lot of work this prep at Muswellbrook and has had some success as well, with a win and two placings. His two best runs so far this prep have come on a Soft-rated track, which is looking like what we’ll get today. Jasmine Urquhart-Warren takes over in the saddle, and they get a 4kg weight relief.

This one is a very open field, which means there’s value to be had if you can find the right runner. My attention is on Written By Lucy, who can build on her surprise win last time out in Canberra, where she was going around with odds of  $16. She has already won at Nowra earlier in her prep, which was also on a Heavy-rated track.

Quick Analysis:

Wrapping up the day in Hobart, where I think Flying Concello can get the job done. It’s easy to see why she’s the favourite! She’s got back-to-back wins at this track, and I don’t think the 100m rise in distance will be of any concern. Her record as the favourite is excellent as well (albeit a small sample size), 3:2-0-1. With Bree Temple in the saddle, they also get a 4kg weight relief.

Stats and Insights

  • Colour Our World was narrowly beaten as the narrow favourite last start at Warrnambool and has already won twice this campaign. She can redeem herself in Race 5 at Ballarat.
  • Seismic Boom resumes after a solid effort at Toowoomba and now drops back to non-metro grade. She looks tough to beat in Race 6 at the Sunshine Coast.
  • Dreamers Never Die resumed with a solid placing at Kalgoorlie and boasts an outstanding record at the track. He looks the leading hope in Race 6 at Kalgoorlie.
