Starting today in Lismore and Sealord looks like the one we should all be on. The gelding broke his maiden last time out on the Gold Coast, and drawing barrier one for this race really puts him over the edge. While there is some stiff competition in this one, and he carries the top weight, he has the confidence to go on with it here. Plus, we’re getting around the $4.40 mark, which is decent enough.

Heading to Goulburn now, and The Eyes Have It present good value in my eyes. Trained by Luke Pepper, the mare has a recent win and second placing at this track. Last time out was her win, and that also came at the same trip she lines up for here. She does draw wide for this race, but has some speed in her to overcome that. Brodie Loy is on board once again, and the pair like to make some magic.

It’s Darwin Cup day, and for the big race, I’ve landed on the narrowest of favourites, Stormageddon. The gelding finished fourth last time out in the Chief Minister's Cup, just 0.7L off the pace. His closing speed was impressive, and I think that’ll suit him very well in this one. He drops some weight for this one, and Joe Bowditch hops into the saddle. There’s a lot to like.

  • Their Finest Hour has been in outstanding form this prep with two wins from three starts and maps to control the race from the inside draw. He’ll take plenty of catching in Race 5 at Lismore.
  • Double Pi was only narrowly denied at Pakenham Synthetic last start and looks prime for the win. She can be hard to hold out in Race 7 at Pakenham Synthetic.
  • Verona Rupes dominated from the front at Mildura last start and maps to enjoy another ideal run from the inside gate. He is good enough to get the job done in Race 8 at Pakenham Synthetic.
