Quick Analysis:

Looks like we have a two-horse race here, according to the bookmakers, and I think Mr Avery is the one to beat. We haven’t seen the gelding in almost two months, but he has had two recent trials to shake the cobwebs out. The 1,600m looks ideal, and while there’s a query around the Heavy-rated track, he is a classy horse and should be putting the competition away easily.

I think I’ve found a little bit of value with Taluk here at Wagga today. Her career record currently sits at 34:3-4-4, but she’s better than those numbers suggest. She finished third at this track last time out, just 0.98L off the pace, and that was a BM58, which is the same level she lines up for again here. There’s an additional 200m in this one, which should suit her a little more as well.

Quick Analysis:

Switching over to Pakenham Synthetic for the last race of the day, and it’s hard to go past Lotta City in my eyes. She does draw wide, but her win here at this track/ trip last time out is too good to ignore. The 3YO won that one by 1.75L, and she hasn’t missed a top-three finish so far this prep. Jamie Mott, who was on board for the first-up and second-up runs, saddles up once again.

Stats and Insights

  • Final Comment chased gamely when narrowly beaten at Alpha last start and looks ready to break through. He can perform well while going around at double-digit odds in Race 5 at Barcaldine.
  • Condone returns from a short let-up after winning first-up this preparation in metro company. He looks well placed to continue his winning form in Race 6 at Wellington.
  • Run Freda Run has been racing consistently this preparation and should appreciate this level of competition. She has the form to feature prominently in Race 7 at Barcaldine.
