Quick Analysis:

This one should be a hotly contested race, but I have to give the edge to Diva Rouge. The mare is looking for the hat-trick of wins today, and in her first-up run, she finished second, just 0.15L off the leader. Last time out was a win at Coffs Harbour over virtually the same distance she lines up for here. She’ll take the power of beating.

Quick Analysis:

Staying in Port Macquarie, and I like the look of Archie Maximus. At the $3.70 mark, I think there’s still a smidge of value about him, and he has been going through the gears nicely so far this prep. Last time out, he got the win at Grafton to break his maiden. Aaron Bullock, who has been in form lately, steps into the saddle, and the pair can overcome the wide draw.

Quick Analysis:

Wrapping today up in Stawell, and it’s hard for me to look past the favourite. The mare kicked off this prep in the best way possible, by breaking her maiden. She won in Wangaratta by almost 2L, and she didn’t have it all her way in that one either, being stuck three wide with no cover. A similar performance to that one should see her winning this one as well.

Stats and Insights

  • Salma’s Star drops back to non-metro company and comes from the Gregory McFarlane yard. She deserves consideration in Race 6 at Port Macquarie.
  • Jaz Tycoon is on the quick turnaround and draws to get a soft run throughout. He commands respect in an open race in Race 6 at Stawell.
  • Prince Marionette resumes from a spell and has trialled strongly with a recent win. He looks a good chance at decent odds in Race 7 at Stawell.
