Hoping Hold the Door can get us off to the best of starts in Race 1 today at Goulburn. The favourite was disappointing last time out at Kensington, but this race looks like an easier assignment. He has one win to his name so far in his short career, and that victory came here at Goulburn. Just needs a smidge of luck from the wide draw on a Heavy track.

Armour Force does have to lug around the top weight in this one in Cairns, but I still think he’s good enough to get the win. He is coming into this race in decent form, winning twice from six goes so far this prep. Both those wins were at this track and trip as well. It’s still a somewhat open field, so the $3.00 we’re getting is decent enough.

I’m back in Goulburn for my final best bet of the day, and I think I’ve found some value in Indecisive, in what looks to be another fairly open field. He is another that’s drawn wide, so wait to see how the Heavy-rated ground shapes up as we get later into this meeting. The 4YO kicked off this prep with a third at Kembla Grange, and he should build up from that.

  • Skogafoss improved late when midfield at Cairns last start and represents the Dean Piccolo stable. He looks one of the main chances in Race 3 at Cairns.
  • Winston faces a wide draw but has the speed to offset it and comes from a strong stable. He looks one of the leading winning chances in Race 5 at Pakenham.
  • Join The Que maps to get the perfect run from the inside draw and is expected to roll forward and lead. The setup looks ideal in Race 8 at Pakenham.
