Deep Stealth tackles this one second-up after an impressive run at Port Macquarie last time out, finishing second, just 0.2L off the leader. She’ll be fitter for that run under her belt, and Jett Newman saddles up again. That run came on a Heavy-rated track, and it’s looking like this one will also be in the Heavy range. She draws well and can get on with the job here.

Quick Analysis:

It’s a small field for this one, and I think Format is the one to be on. The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained gelding kicked off his campaign here at Canterbury last time out, finishing fifth. Last campaign, he won when second-up at Hawkesbury, so I’m expecting big things, especially with Adam Hyeronimus still in the saddle.

Quick Analysis:

There are a couple of live chances in this one, but I have to side with Delicate Lady. The mare just missed out by 0.2L as the narrowest of favourites last time out at Caulfield Heath, and I think this is a perfect chance to redeem herself. We’re picking up similar odds this time, and that’s still value in my eyes. Draws well, and the weight isn’t the worst either.

Stats and Insights

  • Too Hot To Torque comes off a strong Port Macquarie win and looks to have more improvement to come this preparation. He shapes as the one to beat in Race 6 at Ballina.
  • Glenfinnan has been racing consistently in metropolitan company and was narrowly beaten as favourite last start at Caulfield Heath. He can pop up at big odds in Race 7 at Mornington.
  • Tuscany has been in outstanding form this preparation, winning twice and placing in all of his other starts. His consistency makes him the one to beat in Race 8 at Canterbury.
