Kicking off the day in Newcastle, and this is an open one according to the bookmakers, but I only have eyes for the narrow favourite, Aeternum. The gelding has been solid so far this prep without breaking through for a win. He gets the services of Chad Schofield this time out, which is a positive. The pair jumps from barrier two, which is another tick.

There’s a bit of value around Russian Front in Race 7 today at Moe. The gelding has a bit of experience at the track and finished second by just 0.35L at virtually this trip as well two runs back. Hayley Spitse, who was on board for that ride, steps back into the saddle, and she brings a 3kg weight relief with her as well. They draw wide, but that might be the best place to be late in the day on a Heavy10.

I’m back in Newcastle to round out the day with Prince Of Sorts. The 5YO is currently the narrow favourite, but still brings a smidge of value in my eyes. He comes into this one third-up after finishing third at Wyong last time out. Prince Of Sorts has previously done some of his best work when third-up, with a record of 3:2-0-0. Shannen Llewellyn, who was on board last time out, retains the ride and brings a 2kg weight relief.

Stats and Insights

  • Kevin arrives off a recent win at Cowra and has also placed once this campaign. He can make the most of that winning form in Race 5 at Wellington.
  • Something Royal arrives off a Northam victory and comes from the Kieran Regan stable. She can build on that effort with another strong showing in Race 6 at Bunbury.
  • Remember The Boys won at Rockhampton two starts back and gets the blinkers back on for this assignment. He can respond positively to the gear change in Race 6 at Rockhampton.
