There’s money coming in for a couple of different runners in this one, but I’m sticking with the favourite, Lavandula. She kicked off her prep last time out, and I think that was more to just get the cobwebs out. Plus, she gets back to non-metro grade here, so she looks like a hot chance. It’s a small field, and she is good enough to run over the top of them in the closing stages.

Even though the price is getting a little skinny, I’m still willing to jump on Gunz for this one. The gelding was impressive in defeat at Seymour last time out, going down by just 0.15L. Honestly, he has looked good all prep, and it won’t take long for another win. He gets no favours from the wide draw, but has a class edge over the rest, so he should be able to overcome that.

Finishing the day in Bathurst and Very Sirius looks too good to pass up at the odds. The filly has been there or thereabouts in the last three runs, and is overdue for a trip back to the winner’s stall. She went around as the narrow favourite at Canberra Acton last time out, but ended up 1.46L off the pace in third. Draws better for this one, and Robyn Freeman gets another chance in the saddle.

  • Lord Limerick brings winning form into this race after scoring in his past two starts at Corowa. He looks ready to complete the hat-trick in Race 4 at Albury.
  • That's It has been ultra-consistent this preparation with four placings from six starts. He looks the runner they all have to beat in Race 4 at Townsville.
  • Almighty Jab boasts an excellent record at Townsville and should be fitter after his recent runs. He can topple the favourite in Race 8 at Townsville.
