Quick Analysis:

Starting the day early in Wellington with Harry. The gelding draws wide, but he has been racing well so far this prep, and I think he can get his breakthrough win here. He finished third last time out at Dubbo, and Grant Buckley, who was on board for that run, sticks. The $3.50 we’re getting isn’t too bad either.

Quick Analysis:

For my next best bet, I’ll be on Col Klink, who’s racing today in Hamilton. The gelding is looking for back-to-back wins after breaking his maiden last time out at Geelong as the favourite. He should be fitter for that run under his belt, and I’m expecting further improvement here. It wouldn’t surprise me to see his odds shorten as we get closer to race time, either.

Quick Analysis:

Wrapping the day up in the final race on the card at Albury. With Strength looks too difficult to hold out. The favourite comes into this one third-up and has back-to-back second placings. Sarah McDonough was on board for the first up run, and she returns to the saddle for this one, accompanied by a 2kg weight relief as well.

Stats and Insights

  • Mr Magnificence produced a solid first-up effort when running second at Moruya. He looks one of the main chances in Race 4 at Albury.
  • Denman Bandit was narrowly beaten last start at Quirindi on a soft track and looks ready to go one better. He rates the leading hope in Race 6 at Wellington.
  • Scholl Deep finished midfield first-up on a heavy surface at Kilmore but is expected to improve sharply second-up. She gets the slight edge in Race 7 at Hamilton.
