Quick Analysis:

I liked the way Spaceballs has improved run-by-run so far this prep. Last time out, we saw her get her second career win in a BM64. In that race, she managed the fastest last 200m of the entire meeting, and that run was her first for the Jason Deamer stable. Hopefully, that’s a sign of what’s to come. Draws well, and Zac Lloyd sticks. A lot to like.

Heading to Ipswich now, and it’s hard for me to go past Fire And Light in Race 6. It’s a pretty big field, and the gelding comes into this one as the favourite, but there’s still a bit of value to be had. Fire And Light is on the quick six-day back-up, after going down narrowly (0.26L) as the $3.20 favourite at Toowoomba. He is good enough to bounce back and redeem himself here.

Quick Analysis:

I think there’s plenty of value to be had with Kranich today at Dubbo. I’m fairly confident in him, so I’ll be taking him to win, but an each-way play is also worthwhile considering. He is slugged with the equal top weight, but does draw relatively well. He’ll have his work cut out for him with Nimble Star, but he is good enough to win this. Jockey Chad Lever sticks as well.

Stats and Insights

  • Yes Donald Yes broke through for a deserved maiden win last start at Warwick and looks to have more improvement to come. He shapes as a leading contender in Race 5 at Sunshine Coast.
  • Volkano went close last start at Terang and gets another good opportunity here from a strong stable. He looks a major player in Race 6 at Kilmore.
  • Damehood produced a solid placing at Pakenham last start and is racing in good company. She looks well placed to run a big race in Race 7 at Pakenham.
