Quick Analysis:

Kicking things off in Canberra, and it’s really hard for me to go past Vella’s Best. The gelding comes into this one as the favourite, and with his recent trial win at Canberra, it’s easy to see why. This will be his first run this prep, but he is looking for a hat-trick of wins. He most recently won at this track/ trip. Two of his four wins have come when racing fresh.

Quick Analysis:

Switching over to Muswellbrook, and I think the market has it spot on here with Clear Thinking. Yes, there isn’t a whole heap of value to be had with the mare, but she is by far the best runner in this one. The 2025 winner of The Kosciuszko, she steps down to non-metro grade and is certainly good enough to overcome the wide barrier. It’s hard to see anyone else giving her a scare.

For my last of the day, I’m heading back to Canberra for the Listed Canberra Cup. The scratching of Campaldino has me strongly leaning towards Travolta now. The gelding has to overcome the top weight, but after dropping back at non-metro class, I think he can. Last time out, we saw Travolta finish third in the Group 3 Parramatta Cup by just 0.85L at Rosehill.

Stats and Insights

  • Fire Tribe placed third at Ballarat last start and has been consistent with two placings from three runs this preparation. He looks a strong chance in Race 5 at Echuca.
  • Justadeel has been given a short let-up and has since impressed with a trial win heading into this assignment. He looks the runner to beat in Race 6 at Echuca.
  • Music Time is chasing a hat-trick after back-to-back wins at Canberra and clearly enjoys racing at the track. He shapes as a leading chance in Race 7 at Canberra.
