Kicking things off with Lunar Lover in Rosehill today. The gelding comes into this one in some form, with a second and a win in his two most recent runs (both of which also came at 2,400m). Draws barrier three and maps to settle just off the pace. There are a lot of ticks for Lunar Lover, and I think he’ll be one of the favourites.

Quick Analysis:

Bluestone tackles this one second-up after finishing second by just 1.75L at Caulfield last time out. The gelding was flying late, so the step up to 2,400, from 2,000m, looks ideal. Draws barrier draw, which is another major consideration in this field of 15. I think he’ll be hard to beat, but there should still be a little bit of value with him due to the large field.

Quick Analysis:

In the last today at Sandown, I’m siding with Savisanta. The gelding gets a 2kg weight relief thanks to apprentice jockey Logan Bates. The 3YO pumped in a very impressive result last time out to break his maiden, winning by 2.5L as the $1.24 favourite. This is a bigger (and better) field this time out, so expect juicer odds, and he is good enough to get the job done.

  • Khoirgirl has been ultra-consistent at metro level this prep and has the speed to offset the wide draw. She sets the benchmark in Race 3 at Doomben.
  • Eternal Romance was narrowly denied in a driving finish at Belmont last start and has been competitive at metro level this prep. She gets his chance to break through in Race 4 at Belmont.
  • Astronomix has made a flying start to his career and now returns to metropolitan grade with upside. He can continue his rise in Race 5 at Rosehill.
