I reckon Life Sentence is good enough to run in the top three today at Ballarat Synthetic. The last four races the 6YO has been racing in have been at this track, with two of them also being across 1,400m. He has a win and two seconds across those four races as well, including last time out when he finished second, just 0.5L off the leader. Zac Moore steps into the saddle, bringing a 3kg weight relief.

Quick Analysis:

From barrier one, I have to stick with the favourite Pariah Flyer in Race 4 today at Albury. The mare has a lot of recent experience at the track, with her last three races here. She broke her maiden here in May, and last time out finished second by just 0.1L. Apprentice jockey Ella Bent books the ride, and she brings a 2kg weight relief with her. There’s plenty to like, and she’s not too short either.

Rounding out the day in Grafton, and I have my eye on Torque So Hot, who currently presents some value around the $5.00 mark (at the time of writing). The top-rated runner is coming off a win here at this track last time out by 2.35L, and breaking his maiden. He was going around with odds of $1.26 for that win, and while this one is obviously harder, the $5.00 is too hard to pass up.

Stats and Insights

  • Smart Legend has won twice this campaign and boasts a strong record at Townsville. He can make his proven track form count in Race 2 at Townsville.
  • Briginshaw has made an impressive start to his career and gets the ideal inside draw. He can take advantage of the favourable setup in Race 7 at Townsville.
  • Awarded Glory was narrowly beaten at long odds at Coffs Harbour and gets another favourable inside draw. He is capable of beating the favourite in Race 7 at Grafton.
