Quick Analysis:

Kicking the day off with a smidge of value at Doomben with Fernao. After a handful of scratchings, we’re down to just nine runners in this BM80 race. The gelding has been going through the gears lately, but has been a bit unlucky this prep. His last two runs were both at this track and resulted in second placings. This one looks a little bit easier than last time out, and barrier three just sends him over the edge in my eyes.

If you’re looking for an in-form runner, you’ve certainly found it with Cavalry Girl. Her last five runs have resulted in three wins and two second placings (both by 1L or less). While this is certainly a step up, this is a mare that knows how to win and is hungry to get back into the winner’s stall once again. Craig Williams, who has won on board Cavalry Girl previously, steps back into the saddle and they jump from barrier one.

It’s the race we’ve all been waiting for, the Group 1 Winx Stakes, and could it be anyone but Autumn Glow (aka Baby Winx)? The money is streaming in, and the mare is the talk of the town. Don’t get me wrong, this is still a quality field, filled with multiple Group 1 winners. But can they catch Autumn Glow with JMac on board once again (and from barrier three)? I think not!

Stats and Insights

  • Cherry Bomshell resumes after ending her previous campaign with three consecutive victories, including a win at Randwick. She can pick up where she left off in Race 7 at Randwick.
  • Campione D'Italia resumes from an 18-week spell and comes into the race after an encouraging trial placing. He can make a strong return in Race 8 at Randwick.
  • Cicala was less than a length from the winner at Morphettville last start and now tackles 1,400m for the first time. She can make her presence felt in Race 8 at Morphettville Parks.
