Quick Analysis:

I’m pretty confident that The Cops can finish in the top three today at Kilcoy. It’s a field of just 10, and the gelding has been pretty successful so far this prep, with multiple top three finishes. He draws barrier two, and apprentice jockey Isabel Jessop brings a 2kg weight advantage. It looks like a very open field, so I’m happy to stick with some value by taking the place bet for The Cops.

Quick Analysis:

Next up, I have my eye on Miss Himalaya in Race 5 at Wangaratta. The mare has been there or thereabouts so far this prep, including a win, a second placing, and back-to-back fourths up until now. Her last four runs have been on Heavy-rated tracks, and we’re looking at more of the same here. She’s dropping down from a BM66 to a BM56, and has a massive weight advantage over her rivals. She’ll be eyeing off a finish in the top three.

Quick Analysis:

Cross Tasman looks like the one to be on late in the day at Goulburn. We haven’t seen the gelding since February, but he has had two tick-over trials to get him ready for this one. He was impressive last prep, and I think he’s in for more of the same during Spring. He’s another that gets in light at the weights, and with Kerrin McEvoy on board, he can kick off this campaign in the best way possible.

Stats and Insights

  • Eightyseven Lad has been ultra-consistent this campaign, winning at Kalgoorlie and placing in every other start. He can maintain that excellent record in Race 5 at Kalgoorlie.
  • Colly Blue broke through with a maiden win at Forbes and has finished in the top three in both career starts. He can continue her promising start in Race 6 at Narromine.
  • The Quiet Immortal finished strongly to break his maiden at Wodonga and comes from a good stable. He can build on that breakthrough performance in Race 7 at Wangaratta.
