Wyong - Race 3, 4:05 PM

horse-racing

Top Pick:

4. Portico

tip

Recommended Bet Type:

Win

winner

Best Odds Available:

NZ$3.40 with Zoccer

Quick Analysis:

I reckon I’ve found a winner early in the day at Wyong, which will hopefully set us up for the races to come. Portico comes into this one as the narrow favourite, but still presents enough value in this big field. After breaking his maiden, he went straight into the Listed Oxlade Stakes, where he fell flat. He’s been back at the trials since, and he looks good enough to put them away, especially from barrier one.

Canberra - Race 4, 4:25 PM

horse-racing

Top Pick:

7. Fill Up

tip

Recommended Bet Type:

Place

winner

Best Odds Available:

NZ$2.45 with 20Bet

Quick Analysis:

I think Fill Up can pop up there at big odds at Canberra today. The gelding is on a seven-day back-up and is yet to break his maiden, which is why I think he is flying under the radar a bit. However, he has only two career runs under his belt (both at Moruya), and he improved last time out to finish third, about 1L off the leader. This does look harder, but he is heading in the right direction and Quayde Krogh sticks; worth a shot.

Mornington - Race 9, 7 PM

horse-racing

Top Pick:

10. Chicago Blues

tip

Recommended Bet Type:

Win

winner

Best Odds Available:

NZ$4.20 with Ivibet

Quick Analysis:

Wrapping things up late in the day at Mornington, and I have my eye on Chicago Blues. The gelding couldn’t get the job done as the favourite at Wangaratta last time out, finishing in second by just 0.02L. That run was from barrier one as well, and this time out, he draws wide, but we see Daniel Stackhouse take over in the saddle. Coming into this one third-up now, he should have the fitness advantage as well.

Stats and Insights

  • Kippis resumes after breaking through for a maiden win at Cranbourne last start. She can make a strong return in Race 5 at Mornington.
  • Cattle Camp resumes from an 18-week spell after making a promising start to his career. He can continue pumping in good results in his return in Race 8 at Mornington.
  • Rush Attack backs up after seven days following a narrow defeat at Gosford. He looks ready to go one better in Race 8 at Wyong.
